Gujarat BJP Manifesto 2017

Gujarat BJP Manifesto 2017 for Assembly Elections: Gujarat BJP on 8th December announced its manifesto for general elections of assembly 2017 in presence of State election incharge Arun Jaitley, state party president Jitubhai Vaghani and members of manifesto committee of party. BJP has announced its manifesto a day before polling for first phase of election covering Saurashtra and South Gujarat regions.  Opposition party congress already issue Gujarat Congress Manifesto 2017.

Gujarat BJP Manifesto 2017 Highlights:

  • Unlike 2012, the BJP manifesto has not made any ‘extravagant’ promises, with the poll document revolving around “overall development” without giving details.
  • The manifesto resolved to “double farmers’ income through various means, such as cheap fertilisers and seeds, better irrigation, proper Minimum Support Prices and (access to) food processing”.
  • The party promised to increase the pension for widows at regular intervals.
  • BJP promised to give priority to quality education and build “international-level universities”. Party also promised to set up district-level “Tribal Welfare Boards” and an “Adivasi University”.
  • Party promised to open more generic medicine shops and introduce mobile clinics and laboratories, apart from making Gujarat free of vector-borne diseases.
  • In 2012, Gujarat BJP, led by then Chief Minister Narendra Modi, had promised to construct 50 lakh houses in the next five years, which was the key highlight of the manifesto.
  • For urban centres, BJP promised timely-implementation of Smart City projects and construction of multi-level parking lots.
